We are excited about our first weekend in Germany that we can get out & see the country! This morning, we went to the gym, then rented a car for the weekend! We're planning to go somewhere tomorrow, just for a day trip. Maybe we'll go to the Neuschwanstein Castle, which you can see in the picture. Ludwig II of Bavaria commissioned the palace in September of 1869 century to be a retreat. The castle is said to be the most photographed building in all of Germany, & is also the most popular tourist destination here. Easy to see why! It is so gorgeous, it doesn't even look real! Also, the Neuschwanstein Castle was the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland. It is about 3 hours from here, but we don't mind the drive. I'm sure it would be a beautiful the entire way! Plus, what a great place to see!
If we decide not to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle, we may go to Nuremberg instead, which is only about 1 hour from here. The pictures to the left & right are of Nuremberg, another absolutely beautiful place that is full of history. During World War II, the city was bombed by the United States Army Air Force & also the British Air Force, destroying roughly 90% of the city in less than one hour. After the war, the city was rebuilt & many of the medieval buildings restored. From 1945 to 1946, the Nuremberg Trials were held here as German officials involved in the Holocaust were tried before an international tribunal. It would be very interesting to visit here, to be in the same place where all of these events happened. Wow.
We'll let you know where we've decided to visit, & of course I will post any pictures that we take! Hope that you all have a fabulous weekend!! ♥
