Don & I met in 6th Grade in our hometown in Colorado. We didn't start dating, however, until our freshman year of college. I was in Oklahoma & Don was in New York. What a way to start a relationship! But we made it work with many flights back & forth to visit each other. The distance was good preparation for Army life, & I know that God was giving us a lot of practice!
We got engaged on Good Friday of 2007 in Central Park. Don planned it all incredibly, surprising me completely! I knew he would ask me, but I didn't know when! It was just what I wanted: the two of us alone to share the moment. Plus, we got pictures of the proposal! It was my idea to take some pictures, & as usual, since we were alone, we set up the camera's timer. Picture one: smile! Picture two: goofy! Picture three: ...Will you marry me?! It was wonderful! Isn't he clever?! :)
We were married June 14, 2008 at my parents' home in beautiful Colorado. We honeymooned at Petite St. Vincent in the Grenadines, a tranquil paradise! We then moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where Don did his Field Artillery Officer's Training for about 7 months. Then, on to Germany!
We love it here in Europe. We have a cozy home, our two Great Danes, & many incredible opportunities to see the world! We are very blessed & very happy. God made us to be together, to be best friends, to stick together no matter what life brings our way, to be so in love!
