"Schloss" means palace
There is even a Garden Museum here which is dedicated to the history of garden design! It opened in 2002 & is the only museum of its kind. I don't know...do you think I would enjoy seeing this museum? :)
WOW! And this is all within less than a 2 hour drive from our house! Since Don has Monday off, I bet we can find time to take a little exploring trip! :) Can you imagine living in these places? Strolling through the gardens with a good book...entertaining in the fabulous rooms...& you know the owners never had to clean, either, which would make it even more lovely! Ooooh, but I'm awfully cozy here in this palace of our own, even though I do my own cleaning! Plus, I have a Prince! And...a pony too!
Love the castles! Our next trip over will have to include some of those close ones! Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteHope Layla's healing up good!
One of those ballrooms looks JUST like the one on "The Sound of Music"!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so beautiful! Hope you got a chance to go see some of them. You know how i often behave like an elderly woman? Well in listening to NPR one day i heard Diane Rehm interviewing a woman named Andrea Wulf who had written a book called the Brother Gardners: Botany, Empire and the Birth of an Obsession. While i would have never thought i would want to read a book on gardening, the interview and synopsis was so intriguing i bought it on amazon. While i haven't had the chance to get very far, it really is a good read thus far. Hope you're both well! <3
ReplyDeleteMom ~ The longer we're here, the more we'll know about what's around us! It's amazing to think about all of the neat places nearby that we haven't found yet!
ReplyDeleteHannah ~ Wish I could have taken my own pictures inside the New Palace! I haven't see The Sound of Music in years...need to take the tour of where it was filmed in Austria!!
Kim ~ Aw, thanks for your note! It sounds like that book would be something I'd enjoy reading also! I may have to check it out :) So good to hear from you! Miss you!!
